Conformal Coating and Encapsulation

In the ever-increasing need for better reliability and safety a larger number of companies are turning to conformal coating and encapsulation to achieve this end. To meet these requirements Infoteam EMS have invested in a dip-coating machine for conformal coatings and fluid dispenser for encapsulation. These facilities enable us to coat printed circuit boards to a known thickness with materials approved to British Standards and to fully encapsulate PCB's or finished products to meet intrinsically safe standards.

Conformal Coating

The conformal coating machine is a Concoat type DC 3002 dip coater and can use any currently approved coating compound. By controlling the extraction rate from the coating material, the thickness of the deposited material can be closely controlled and if an ultra violet compound is used the quality of the final coating can be checked using a hand held UV source. The maximum board size that can be handled is approximately 18" x 12 ". For larger boards there is spray gun attachment.

Encapsulation

The encapsulation process uses a Fluid Control Mini Twin flow unit. It is designed to mix two part compounds and injects the solution in controlled quantities into the product to be encapsulated. Both the mix ratio and the volume injected are controllable and the overall system is air operated from a foot switch.
